All content must be useful, fresh, and relevant information for our local community.

However, before you share your content with us, please make sure it meets our guidelines and standards to ensure all content is up to par.

Great Content Types

  1. Relevant Content– Your post must be appropriate, and serve the needs of small business owners. Our readers know their customers, and our contributors must provide great information about marketing and digital marketing. Here are some great examples of content we love:
    • How-Tos: Show unique approaches to solving frequent needs for small business owners.
    • Personal Tips: Show your readers your unique insight on ways to improve business operations, grow their audience, and be more successful!
    • Recommendations: Our readers love real-life examples to help grow business operations. Our purpose is to inform and assist, not sell. No self-promoting material!
  2. Useful– Your post should be valuable to the small business community, and any recommendations must apply to local business owners.
  3. Helpful– Your post should aim to provide actionable advice and insight for business owners. While posts must be educational, it also needs to be entertaining and exciting to read.
  4. Understandable– Your content must be factual and easy to understand. Writing must be constructed for our busy audience, and should not be confusing or abstract. Our audience expects real-life, actionable direction and your post must meet the same standards!

Guidelines

  1. Content must be original to our site. It must be written by you and not published anywhere else. This includes your blog or even LinkedIn! Our audience expects original content, so please do not republish anywhere!
  2. Once published we own the content. This helps us ensure efficiency when the local press and other sources who want to share your content from our website. We will keep you updated on such actions to the best of our ability.
  3. Posts should be at least 600 words. This ensures our readers will find the most value from your post.
  4. We prefer content that has personality. Humor, edgy and thought-provoking content that is informative and educational is the content our readers love!
  5. Include a short bio along with your guest blog post. This bio can be a maximum of 100 characters, and a single link back to your website.
  6. Credit all outside sources that you reference in your blog post.
  7. All submissions to us must be made in either .doc or .docx format.
  8. Do not include an image. We will find the perfect image on your behalf!
  9. We reserve the right to edit (partially or completely) every submission. This includes headlines, subheadlines, and body copy.
  10. Not all guest blog post submissions are guaranteed for publication.
